Fitness Friday
This is appropriate today☹️ finding the motivation and what to post today. We only post once a day so it shouldn’t be that difficult (you would think) if you have ever felt like that it’s only human. Our go to formula is listening to motivational videos on YouTube or other channels. Simple daily disciplines has helped us regardless of some days of not being motivated.

The Health Benefits Of Avocados
The avocado has become popular due to its creamy, mild texture and flavour.
Avocados are an excellent source of monounsaturated fat and vitamin E, yet very high in calories because of its high fat content. Half a avocado is equivalent to one portion of your 5 a day and it’s probably a good idea to limit yourself if your managing your weight to only 2 per week.
There are countless recipes with avocado, my particular favourite is with egg on sourdough toast as a snack but I have also used it to make chocolate icing on healthier chocolate cake. It’s also good to add to a salad or mashed to make guacamole.

Mythbuster Monday
To get long lasting results will not be from instant results. Over the years we have met so many people looking for instant results when it comes to their health, yet they have forgotten how long it had taken them to get to where they are when coming to us for help. We are very much into long lasting methods of support in health and wellness along with healthy aging not just a quick fix solution.

Social Saturday
A day to reconnect with old friends. Humans are by nature social beings and isolation for most people has been challenging but someone on their own it is even more challenging.

The least liked bodyweight exercise yet can be the most effective and rewarding one to get results.

There are huge advantages of burpees such as building muscle, burning fat and improving cardio endurance.

They train the whole body and all the major muscle groups are engaged.

The diagram illustrates the 7 steps to a basic burpee. After a period of mastering the burpee you could add a few other things such as press ups, tuck jumps, lunges etc. There are so many variations to mix and match your training.

Thoughtful Thursday
Those of us who are parents nurture and teach our children the best way we know. We instil in them ideas and beliefs that we ourselves were taught. We do our best so that they grow to be thriving, healthy adults and in some cases do better in life than us.

Think about If we were all shown how to respect each other’s point of view, religions, background, beliefs and lifestyles how much better will this world be. We as humans learn from our mistakes and lose our fear of being wrong and create a better life.

Be blessed and stay healthy

Nutty Chicken Satay Strips
Cooking time 10 minutes
Prep time 10 minutes
2 tablespoon of chunky peanut butter (without palm oil or sugar)
1 garlic clove, grated fine
Small amount of soy sauce
1 teaspoon of madras curry powder
2 teaspoon of lime juice
2 skinless chicken breast fillets (about 300g) cut into thick strips

Add the chicken breast fillets, chopped and mixed well. Place on the baking tray ensuring they spaced apart and bake for 8-10 minutes until cooked.

Eat warm with the cucumber slices and sweet chilli dip or leave them to cool and store in the fridge for up to 2 days.

To challenge common held views about diabetics particularly Type @.
Myth buster Monday
Today we are going to highlight 5 most common diabetes myths.
1. People with Diabetes Cannot Eat Sugar
Possibly the most popular myth and that diabetics have to have a sugar free diet. Diabetics need to have a balanced diet which can include some sugar in moderation.

2. TYPE 2 Diabetes Only Affects Fat People
Yes Type 2 diabetes is often associated with being overweight and the obese, but in fact its not totally true. In fact 20% of people with type 2 diabetes are underweight or normal weight.

3. People With Diabetes Should Only Eat Diabetic Food
This is a another common myth than has been growing in the last decade. The label ‘diabetic’ is often used on sweet foods. More often sugar alcohols, or other sweetness, will be used instead of sugar. Diabetic food will often still affect blood glucose levels, also expensive and may cause adverse side effects.

4. People With Diabetes Go Blind And Lose Their Legs
Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness and also may cause many amputations each year. However, those that control blood pressure, glucose, weight and stop smoking will increase their chances of staying complications free.
To help support this maintain annual diabetic health checks.

5. People With Diabetes Are More Likely To Be Ill
People with diabetes are not likely to have colds or other illnesses. For diabetics their main issue is managing blood glucose levels which could lead to infections or severity of a illness, hence why many GPs recommend flu jabs.

Fitness Friday
Researchers found working out in a group lowers stress by 26 percent and significantly improved quality of life. Although those who exercise individually put in more effort, they experienced no significant changes in their stress or perceived physical fitness levels.
For the last 4 years 1wishfit have worked to get more and more people more active from walk to run sessions, Fitclubs for anyone intimidated by gyms to now doing free online fitness classes all helping to build a sense of community and support. We will continue to do so.
